🌿 When your brain says ‘meh’ — but your client needs magic

Choosing powerful questions anyway.

Some days your brain is just... foggy.
Or full.
Or completely blank.

And still — you’ve got a session coming up, and your client is expecting presence, clarity, maybe even a bit of magic. But you? You’re not exactly feeling it.

Totally normal. And totally manageable.

Here’s how to choose powerful coaching questions — even when your brain says ‘meh’.

🌿 First: it’s okay. You’re human.

You don’t need to feel super inspired to do great coaching.

Some days you’re not in your ‘coach flow.’ That’s life.

The good news? You don’t need to force it.

There are ways to show up grounded, clear and ready — even if your energy is somewhere between meh and meh-er.

🌿 1. Start small: what does your client need right now?

Instead of searching for the ‘perfect’ question, start simple:

What could help this person land, right now?

This takes the pressure off and invites you back into presence.

Think small, grounding questions like:

  • ‘What’s most present for you right now?’
  • ‘What do you need clarity on today?’
  • ‘What do you want to let go of before we begin?’

Simple is powerful.

🌿2. Use a go-to question set (and give your brain a break)

If you often find yourself staring at a blank page while prepping a session, make things easier for yourself.

Have a curated list of coaching questions ready to go — something that supports you, not just your client.

That’s why I created The Coach Toolbox: 5000 printable coaching questions, organized by theme (confidence, changing habits, goals, perfectionism, inner critic... you name it).

No more scrolling, searching or doubting. Just flip through, pick what resonates, and go.

🌿 3. Trust the power of one good question

You don’t need a big story or a clever technique.
One question is often enough to unlock insight, emotion, or momentum.

Try:

  • ‘What’s holding you back?’
  • ‘What wants to be said?’
  • ‘What have you not allowed yourself to admit yet?’

Your client does the work. You create the space.
And that space begins with one grounded, intentional question.

💡 Final reminder:

you don’t need to be magic — you just need to open the door to it.

You’re not the source of the magic.
You’re the channel.

All you need is a clear mind, an open heart, and one question that creates a shift.
